Back To The Tables
The Seeker

It had been a very long time. Over the past week, I had the opportunity to return to the one thing I truly love—playing poker. Have you ever heard the saying, “being in the flow”? I first learned about this concept from a college instructor. The way it was explained to me is that it’s a state where you lose all track of time, nothing can distract you, and you enter a hyper-focused zone.
The two outings I had this week were both fun and educational. I always strive to learn from every session, pulling lessons from the spots I find myself in. In poker, a "spot" refers to a situation where you're forced to make a tough decision. Keep in mind, your opponents will put you in spots, just as you can put yourself in them.
Looking back at my play, I noticed a few mistakes—times when I could have made better choices in certain spots. The first outing wasn’t profitable, but I hung in there, finishing just shy of the final table in 10th place. The second outing went better. I made the final table and drew a seat I was happy with—seat five. I love final tables, not just because that’s typically where the money is won, but because the competition ramps up and strategy becomes even more important.
As play continued, I made a few small runs that were chip-positive. I had some good hands that held up and navigated through a few bluffs. In the end, I finished in sixth place. In this tournament, sixth place was the bubble—the first five spots got paid. In a nice gesture, I received my buy-in back, which made the outing feel a bit better.
I’m really excited for the upcoming outings, and I’m not going to wait so long to get back to the tables.
For now, I wish you all the best as you take your own path in seeking yourself!!!
