Anticipation and Hope!

The Seeker

Anticipation and hope—aren’t these two things the same? One might say anticipation is knowing what’s going to happen or what’s to come. I say you can anticipate what you cannot see, what you cannot know, but what you can believe. I believe in God, although I cannot see Him. I believe in heaven, although I’ve never been there. I anticipate that tomorrow will be better than today. Can’t I hope for the same thing? Can’t I believe the same thing?

I will go about today, anticipating the great things that will happen, and I hope that I can rise to the excitement these things bring. I can anticipate an hour from now what I will be doing, knowing that everything could change, and I might not be doing what I anticipated. I can hope that I will be, but life could happen. We go through life anticipating and hoping for one thing or another, never truly knowing exactly what’s around the corner. We don’t know what’s over the hill or in the water.

I say all of this and ask these questions with the understanding that we live our lives in one big vacuum of faith. Why do I say faith? Because we go about scheduling, having faith that we’ll be able to meet that schedule. We go about in faith, believing that the people around us will be just, will honor their word, and do what they say they’ll do. We live in faith, believing in things we cannot see—like God or heaven. We have faith that when we jump in our car, it’ll start. We have faith that when we get to work, we’ll still have a job. We have faith that when we go to sleep, we’ll wake up.

If you really stop to think about it—and really ponder—how much faith, anticipation, and hope intertwines in your life on a daily basis, you can’t help but believe in a positive, enthusiastic, and joyous tomorrow.

For now, I wish you all the best as you take your own path seeking you!!
